INTO THE GLOSS

Some beauty inspiration behind Bricolage

closeup of nails in Bricolage,

I am by no means a nail expert but I grew up with three sisters where our bonding moments were usually over beauty products, so painting nails is a like a long past time. Johnathan told me about the new beauty blog, Into the Gloss, which I love and have been visiting since. He wanted to do a take on Sally Singer's amazing white applique rose nails that were featured in Into the Gloss.

With no budget for a nail art person, I totally had to macgyver these nails and figure out a way to do them. It turned into a bit of an art project as it was almost like putting little sculptures together.

I found some great nail art resources here and a trip to some of those nail places in Chinatown produced a bottle of Essie Nailpolish in "Blanc", a tube of nail glue and little white flowers... done and done!

But Sally's are still way better!
she credits Valley NYC for doing her nails.

A friend of mine also clued me into a new nail salon that does Gel Manicures - the kind that last for weeks and weeks but also the same price as a regular manicure. Besides the fact it is not too far from where I live, the best part is that they carry Chanel Nailpolishes to do your nails with: Primp and Polish. Love it. (Thanks, E!)
