Where eagles dare

  BY DECADE

Though my taste these days stays more towards the more feminine and classic, one of my regrets that I still think about was giving up a vintage satin bomber jacket with an embroidered eagle on the back that I had when I was a punky little teenager. I wore it to my first Misfits show. I also can't help but wish I had maybe stolen a leather jacket from one of those boys I knew from back then every time I see a photo of the stud encrusted Balmain leather jacket on some lucky girl. But now I feel a bit validated as I stumbled upon this jacket over the weekend that kind of makes up for it all.

I got this from a vintage seller who had found it on a trip to Thailand. Admitting that she had worn it a couple times after bringing it back, she needed five minutes to hold it before saying goodbye, which was totally understandable. It's pretty awesome.

All I know is that it belonged to a boy named Mitchell, his name is written in the inside pocket. He didn't just sew on the Misfits patch on the back the whole thing is embroidered on. The Levi's denim is just the right shade of blue, worn in to crazy shreds of perfection, with the holes in the arms haphazardly patched up with a multi-colored fabric. I slipped it on and it's just the right boyish size, and as another x-teenage punk rocker Andrew nodded his head in approval, as it's the only thing he's ever encouraged me to buy.

Wearing it with my Isabel Marant red white and blue Ritchi sweater, feeling nostalgic and believing a little bit that this jacket has superhero powers.

Thanks, Mitchell, whoever you are. Don't worry, your jacket is safe with me.
I'll love it to more pieces.
