Rocket USA

By Juergen Teller

A quick trip to the nation's capital,

D.C. was my stomping grounds this weekend:

A dear cousin's wedding was a fun way to break in my new Dries shoes,

I packed four pairs of shoes in varying heights, from highest to lowest:

Dries Van Noten Sequin Wedge PumpsDries Van Noten Strappy Suede Shoes,

Mayle Rising Sun Wedges and a pair of Nude Ballet Flats from J.Crew.

The Ballet Flats were perfect for exploring

and playing the part of the quintessential tourist.

The day we walked around the National Park,

the sky was very overcast, the color of a sheet of white paper.

It set such a pretty tone to the pale marble facades

and the grandeur of all of the architecture.

I especially loved the areas where stone

was stained a greenish blue from runoff,

which is considered unsightly by restoration standards.

I kept a little photo diary as inspiration for some

watercolor washes and other color studies,

I see acid ombres of seagreen, lilac, cold whites, gold and flashes of red:
