THE ILLUSTRATED TUTORIAL No. 2

FLOWERS FOR DECEMBER

Fox Fodder Farm is a Floral and Garden Design Studio based here in Brooklyn. Right now a one woman show, Taylor Patterson runs this lovely operation, putting together beautiful and thoughtful arrangements from the traditional tabletop to bountiful crowns for your hair.

Taylor let me snap some pictures of Holiday arrangements she's been working on, introducing me to some new kinds of flowers to draw and lending inspiration on how to make a pretty seasonal setting. Forget the Poinsettias, I love her non-traditional mixes with the tiny succulent looking Japanese Plant Kochia, bright red Coral Plant that really does look like coral and Herbs wrapped up into a wreath.

If you happen be eating at Barrio Chino or Walter Foods in the next few weeks, you can see Fox Fodder Farm's Holiday Wreaths and Garlands that recently just went up. Year round, you can admire Taylor's windowboxes of pale green and burgundy plants at The Smile

The best part of this little meet up was that Taylor let me keep the wreath. Felt really festive carrying it home on the Subway with the smell of rosemary and pine stuck to my hands, a few random strangers even stopped to say how pretty it was.
