NYC: FAVORITE JEWELRY
I've been on the search for the perfect solid gold bangle. Something that was very simple, but still a bit different. Something delicate, but strong. It won't tarnish and would last forever. I kept looking but only found one that I really loved. So for the longest time ever, I had written down on my wish list...
Anna Sheffield Egg Bangle
I knew of Anna Sheffield's Egg Bangles from when I worked at 3.1 Phillip Lim, who Anna collaborated with one year. And this was back in 2007, Anna has been designing jewelry since 2002. She should be credited for being one of the trailblazers of jewelry design, aligning it with the Fashion world and for setting the trends of a lot jewelry today.
A quick pass through Love Adorned, the most amazing jewelry store in Nolita, had me think do or die as there it was. A small stack of Anna Sheffield bracelets in different precious metals, where the natural egg shape makes the bangle slip on ever so perfectly to the contours of your hand. The lovely shopgirl (who reads my blog, Hi!) told me that the bangle did come in a plain gold but they were all out.
Now obsessed, I e-mailed Anna's website to see if they could help me find this style. Was pleasantly surprised when they didn't just direct me to another store, they invited me to come up to their showroom to look through different types of solid gold bands so they could custom make me an Egg Bangle that fit my budget.
Not only was Anna's studio incredibly cool, but she herself was so nice; helping me choose from an assortment of options from weight to finish. I ended up getting the bracelets in the top picture - a solid 14k gold plain Egg Bangle and also one in silver with wheat detailing. Anna also showed me some pieces from her latest addition to the line, an incredible fine jewelry "Bridal" Collection, which she let me snap some pictures of.
