City Escape: Hotel Tivoli

Brice and Helen Marden recently renovated an old Victorian Bed and Breakfast in upstate New York and transformed it into a gem of a hotel. All of the rooms at Hotel Tivoli are just a delight to look at, each one has its own unique furnishings and artwork that the family has collected over the years. What I loved most is that there is unexpected color everywhere and the combinations made the place feel so bright and refreshing (Remodelista has this post that goes into detail about how the hotel came to be decorated). Other small touches like Cassie Griffin budvases, Le Labo products and fresh flowers in every room made a short stay sweet.

Where to eat:

The Corner Hotel Tivoli’s restaurant, which takes up the entire ground floor and extends into the building’s large wrap around porch during the summer.

Gaskins Owned by a former manager from Diner/Marlow and Sons here in the city, it is the perfect spot for dinner.

Murray’s for lunch.

Stay for:

Sailing  The town is situated next to the Hudson River and has a small area for boats to dock on. Tivoli Sailing is the only boat company that has access to this dock, which is only 5 minutes away from the Hotel. Go for the sunset sail.

Swimming Holes and everything quintessential upstate New York. Tivoli is in close proximity to Phoenicia/Woodstock (which can be a whole other itinerary in itself) and other small towns to explore for farms, antiques or hiking.
