City Escape: Noguchi Museum

Though it doesn't require much traveling, I’m counting the Noguchi Museum in Queens as a city escape, because that is precisely what it is. What I thought would be a quick visit ended up being a whole day of getting lost in this beautiful place. The museum deceptively appears smaller than it actually is – it is a slow build as the sunlit space unfolds into an array of sectioned galleries to explore. Purposely designed to be experiential, Noguchi’s work is displayed without barriers and free of any wall text. At the heart of the museum is an outdoor Japanese garden that will empty your mind. I promise you will feel like you are in another world.
